Our Gotpassport Family Theme Song

A few months ago, we found an audio CD included with our daughter’s library book entitled,  “Rhinoceros Tap.”  One particular song, “So Long, Doggies” just seems to fit us like a “T.”  Click here to preview the song on Amazon.  I think the song fits perfectly with our mindset about moving to Thailand later this year, and it just sounds like it came from Aye (Mrs. Gotpassport).  Another thing that’s funny is that our daughter is six, and we’re forty-two.  You’ll see why that’s ironic.

Think of this as my version of an “American Top 40 Long Distance Dedication” to my wife…

Please enjoy our new family theme song (imagine Casey Kasem’s voice):

sound track for the book Rhinoceros Tap

So long and farewell to my puppy dog friends

We’ve had some good times, but here’s where it ends

I don’t wanna chase rabbits and I don’t wanna play

I just came here to tell you that I’m going away

We’ve been running in circles, enough is enough

Staying around is just Ruff, Ruff, Ruff

So long doggies, doggies good-bye

I’m going away and I’m telling you why

I’m tired of barking up the wrong wrong tree

I’ve got places to go, and places to see

And that’s why, I’m sayin’ so long doggies good-bye

Oh why do you hound dogs just howl at the moon

I’m leaving today and I’m changin’ my tune

I’m looking for something I don’t know what

So starting today I’m a traveling mut

I’ve gotta move on for it’s sad but it’s true

I’m six years old but I feel FORTY-TWO…

So long doggies, doggies good-bye

I’m going away and I’m telling you why

I’m tired of barking up the wrong wrong tree

I’ve got places to go, places to see

And that’s why, I’m sayin’ so long doggies good-bye

You can’t have respect for a dog that begs

A dog needs to stand on its own four legs

I’m not looking for someone to throw me a bone

I’m my own dog now I can make it alone…

Well I’m leaving my collar, I’m leaving my tags

I’m bringing a dream and a tail that wags

My heart is warm and my nose is still cold

I wanna get around before I grow too old

I’m taking my leave and I’m showing you how

When you make an exit take a Bow-Wow-Wow

So long doggies, doggies good-bye

I’m going away and I’m telling you why

I’m tired of barking up the wrong wrong tree

I’ve got places to go, and places to see

I’m a lone dog rover and I have to run free

I’m my own dog rover, I belong to me…

No diggin’ through cans

I’ve got BIGGER PLANS….

NO GARBARGE….

BON VOYAGE….

What’s your theme song?  Do TELL!
Waaaaat?  You don’t have one- quick you ought to get one and don’t forget to come back and tell us!

Ah, that is so adorable. I added you guys to my blogroll. Hope that’s okay! Have a good weekend. BTW – I loved Thailand when I was there. I’ll probably go back on my upcoming trip. We should try and cross paths. 🙂

For our theme song (and I had to ask my husband, too) we are torn between “Livin’ on a Prayer” (Bon Jovi) and “Other Side” (RHCP). Personally, I’m more of a “Four Seasons in One Day” (Crowded House) type of gal, but, what can I say, The Man has spoken…

Hahahaha, quite a poignant song, I think!

I often find myself myself humming The Littlest Hobo theme tune! Very relevant, and sticking with the doggie theme!

I like it! I think I’ll stick to the Littlest Hobo theme for my own though 🙂
