A Smile from Little Kya Yin in Ban Rak Tai

We met this little girl by the name of Kya Yin (almost 3 yo) during our road trip to Mae Hong Son this past weekend.  We took a day trip out to Ban Rak Thai to visit and learn about a famous Chinese village where tea tasting is THE tourist attraction.

Just look at that glowing smile in her eyes.  She was just adorable and I couldn’t resist.  She loved the camera too.

Little Kya Yin repeated English numbers and letters with us while sitting at one of the tea shops chatting up with the owner (who spoke Mandarin with J) and anther lady, who happens to be the cook by the name of Ma. Lwan Sway (who spoke Burmese with me).

More on our approximately 750 kilometer road trip and how we spent the day celebrating our 11th year anniversary later in a different post.   For now, I love this picture so much I wanted to share it with our family and friends.

For some reason, this quote from R. W. Emerson seems to go well  here:

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children– to leave the world a better place–to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.  This is to have succeeded.”

I love this photo, Avril. We talked about going up there, but ended up not making it to the Chinese village. Being new to Thailand, we enjoyed just being in Mae Hong Son so much we barely left town. We’re headed to Chiang Mai today, sorry to have missed you there.
