Thingyan in Chiang Mai: Part 1

One of the great things about living in Chiang Mai is that we have access to a few Burmese restaurants with great food.  In addition to good food, these restaurants also serve as a news source for Burmese festivities in the city.

Our friend, Ma Suu at Hmwe, told us about the various celebrations in the city.  So did another restaurant owner about the same events.  They were eager to have us attend.  And we were eager, indeed!

And I’m so glad we did.  Before I write a longer post about this event in detail, I wanted to share a couple of photos (teasers) for family back home (in the US) perhaps longing for Thingyan as I am here!  We had a great time tonight and so wonderful that we got to experience the festivities together as a family!
