Tech Review: Best Natural Sunscreen Technology, Ever!

As you well know, there are so many types of sunscreen products out there.  There’s kind you rub on (e.g., traditional lotion in a tube), the kind you spray on, etc.  Some claim to be “healthier” by not containing certain ingredients that are presumably bad for you.  With the depletion of our ozone layer, the sun rays are more harmful than ever (Thanks, Al Gore!), hence the need for better sun protection.

Well, I’ve discovered a revolutionary, but not new, product that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of get this:  100,000!  Yup.  Forget the puny SPF 15, 30, or even 50 cremes.  No chemicals will be absorbed into the skin, which is a big plus.  It’s also reusable, so you eco-green-environmental-hippy types will be happy about that.

What is this amazing technological breakthrough?

This product has been around for quite some time now, ever since humans could walk upright.  The technical name is the Solar Harm Inhibiting Reusable Textile, or S.H.I.R.T.

The S.H.I.R.T. is quite a versatile technology.  You can find them made with 100% cotton, or 100% crap, or a blend of each.  Which type you use is up to your eco-sensibilities, and/or political persuasion.  You can choose long sleeve for complete solar protection, short sleeve for moderate protection, “muscle S.H.I.R.T.s” for men who are compensating for their lack of life accomplishments, or the “farmer tan” edition, aka “wife-beater” style, for those who believe that armpits need to be liberated.

If the quality of the shirt is very poor, and doesn’t last beyond a couple of washings, then they are classified as S.H.I.T.  I do NOT recommend buying S.H.I.T.

So, the next time you’re wondering how to protect yourself from the harmful effects of UV rays, try on a S.H.I.R.T., you should see results (i.e., lack of Nth degree burns) immediately.  To protect your noggin, I highly recommend a  well designed Head Armor Technology, or H.A.T.

Very nice. I’m a big advocate. A couple of years ago I saw “activewear” shirts that were advertised as having an SPF of “higher than 30!” How does THAT work?

That might be a shirt designed to let UV rays through, so the person can get a partial tanning? Thanks for being reader number 4. 😉

Hilarious – and spot on 🙂 Miss your humor Bubba, I’ll have to remember to not wear S.H.I.T when I go out here, the sun is pretty strong!
